Benefits of a Certificate Program

Certificate programs provide you with the technical knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to:

Chancellor's Certificate on the Computer
Complete 96 hours of course work to receive your Chancellor's Certificate on the Computer. This certificate provides recognition for the time and effort you spent to expand your computer knowledge. You do not have to complete an application and there are no specified required courses for this certificate. In addition, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which are awarded for participation in these courses, are kept on record at the University.

There are specific course requirements for each certificate. Be sure to read the requirements for each certificate carefully.
Excel
This certificate is designed for those who wish to become knowledgeable on the many capabilities of Excel. Learn to use the options that will save you time and make your spreadsheet design more efficient. Discover ways to isolate data, create effective charts, and automate your work with macros.Successful completion of 36 hours of specified classes is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Business Applications
This certificate is for those who need to use a variety of software applications to successfully work and communicate in today's office environment. You will develop computer skills and learn to use spreadsheet, database management, and office productivity software. Successful completion of 72 hours of specified classes is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Database Technology
This certificate program provides you with an understanding of database technology and database design, development, and implementation. You'll work with both file-based and server-based applications to learn to set up databases for end-users using GUI applications, while mastering SQL commands to interact with these databases. Successful completion of 72 hours of specified classes is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Digital Graphics
This certificate is for the traditional designer who is going digital, as well as those with experience working in a digital environment, including graphic designers, illustrators, desktop publishers, Web designers, and photographers. You'll learn to use the tools you need to create digital graphics for use in print, on the Web, in presentations, and for multimedia. Earn this certificate in one of two ways: (1) by earning the Electronic Art and Publishing certificate and 30 additional hours in Web Graphics & Animation, or (2) by completing 48 hours in classes in Arts & Graphics, Image Editing, and Web Graphics & Animation.

Electronic Art & Publishing
This certificate is for illustrators, designers, art directors, editors, desktop publishers, and others responsible for producing layout and artwork ready to be distributed through a conventional printing process or electronically via the Web. You'll learn practical skills in three major areas of publication production: desktop publishing, graphics, and image editing. Successful completion of 48 hours of specified classes in these areas is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Programming
This certificate is recommended for individuals who want to learn and enhance their knowledge of programming languages and for those involved in programming who want to update their skills, including developers, programmers, analysts, and IS managers. Successful completion of 60 hours of specified classes is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Web Page Design
This certificate provides you with the tools you need to create attractive and effective Web pages. Create Web pages using basic HTML and explore Web page design applications. Successful completion of 42 hours of specified classes in HTML, Web Page Design, and Web Graphics and Animation is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Web Programming and Databases
This certificate provides you with the tools you need to design, install, and maintain Web-based applications. You'll learn to construct dynamic Web pages that interact with server-based components such as business objects, and maintain databases, including writing to a database, and updating and deleting records. Successful completion of 48 hours of specified classes (or 42 hours in addition to the Web Page Design Certificate) is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.

Web Scripting and Interactivity
This certificate is for Web designers, technical managers, developers, and authors who want to add interactivity to their Web sites so they can acquire information from their Web audience and shape it to meet the needs of the organization as well as heighten the user experience. Successful completion of 48 hours of specified classes (or 42 hours in addition to the Web Page Design Certificate) is required. You must enroll in the program in order to receive a certificate.
